CAREER INFORMATION

Clinical Practice 1975-Present

Averaged 30 hours per week of clinical assessment and treatment for individuals, couples, and families, and group therapy.

Supervision and mentoring for 25 successive interns in a collegial atmosphere offering mutual support, a learning mindset, and personal development.

Consultation to 17 colleagues in group practice, and to 29 colleagues in the community at large, focusing on clinical expertise as well as business skills such as market research and practice marketing, as well as self-care and risk management.

Consultation with leaders of community organizations in such issues as staff development, managing of staff conflict, transition management, and leadership effectiveness. Formulated contracts for service and conducted organizational assessment using clinical interviews and objective tests. Formulated intervention proposals and conducted coaching, intervention with staff meetings, outcome measures, and follow-up recommendations.


Founder/Director Community Christian Counseling 1995-2007

Completed market research and subsequently established a community-based multi-disciplinary center for spiritually integrated professional psychotherapy. Established policies and procedures, conducted staffing, payroll, and employee management.

Envisioned and conducted outreach seminars and workshops for the community.

Known as the premier source for spiritually integrated clinical services in the region. Also the largest such center, with as many as 15 staff representing Psychiatry, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Clinical Social Work. Provided training and inservice for staff, and supervision for as many as seven interns at a time.


Vice President Christian Counseling Centers, Inc. 1983-1995

Co-founded and served as a Vice-President and board member for a nonprofit corporation establishing a network of eleven community based outpatient treatment centers providing clinical services and outreach coordination with local churches and community agencies.

As a Director of one of the local centers, provided clinical services, inservice training, staff management, supervision, and outreach coordination while setting policies and overseeing operations of the corporation.

Delivered seminars and workshops for the community. Coordinated and executed meetings with leaders of community organizations, offering psychological information designed to benefit leaders in their role.


Adjunct Professorships
 
Fuller Seminary --  Marriage Family Therapy Program 1998-1999
Instructed Live Team Supervision course. Introduced students to relationship skill development in their first contact with clients, and first experience with supervision. Utilized one-way mirror team and professor, with in-depth treatment planning and case discussion.

Western Seminary -- Marriage Family Therapy Program 1995-1997
Instructed Pastoral Counseling course for seminary students and Psychopathology course for counseling students.

Azusa Pacific University -- School of Marriage & Family Therapy 1980-1993
Instructed courses in Group Therapy, Treatment Planning, Assessment, and Diagnosis. Consistently rated among the top instructors in the program.
